Ben Midgley

A husband and father, married to his wife Sonia for 23 years, Ben’s story is one of perseverance, grit, and Maine values. He did not come from privilege. He did not inherit wealth. Ben experienced periods of unemployment and even relied on food stamps in his early years. But throughout his life, he didn’t give up. Ben started cleaning gym equipment in exchange for membership and went on to learn every aspect of the business.

 

Working his way from ground zero in the industry, Ben became one of the most successful industry executives in the entire country. Previously serving as the President of Planet Fitness and, most recently, the founding partner and former CEO of Crunch Franchising. Midgley led the company for 15 years from a startup to over 460 locations, more than 3 million members, generating over $1 billion in annual sales and creating 15,000 jobs.

 

Ben launched his campaign for Governor of Maine to bring bold and balanced, conservative leadership to state government and prosperity to the people of Maine. Standing alongside his wife Sonia, a fellow York County native, and their three children, today he told a large crowd of energized supporters that his vision is focused on making Maine stronger, more affordable, and safer.
